I'VE SEEN FILMS 2009 - The International Jury
I'VE SEEN FILMS 2009 Under the Patronage of the Consulate General of the Netherlands, AGIS Lombarda and Lombardia Film Commission.
is proud to announce that Sir Ridley Scott (Blade Runner, Thelma & Louise, Gladiator, American Gangster, Tell-Tale) and Robert Rodriguez (El Mariachi, Sin City, Grindhouse Planet Terror, Shorts) have kindly agreed to be members of the International Jury again this year.
The I'VE SEEN FILMS International Short Film Festival will be held from September 29 to October 3, 2009 in Milan (Italy)
Milan (Italy), March 23, 2009 - I'VE SEEN FILMS, together with its founder Rutger Hauer, announced today that, while warmly welcoming back as members of the International Jury Mr Robert Rodriguez and Sir Ridley Scott, it can also count on an international panel that includes Lech Majewski (Basquiat, Life Hurts, The Prisoner of Rio, The Garden of Earlthy Delights, Blood of a Poet, The Mill and the Cross), Eugenio Cappuccio (Towards the Moon with Fellini, Just One Life, One out of Two, Sleeping on Her, Like Flies) and filmmaking experts such as Bill Bristow, Daniela Catelli and Jeremy Eynon.
The unparalleled asset of this Festival is the representation by the International Jury, allowing filmmakers the rare opportunity to have their works judged and commented upon by such an accomplished array of top filmmaking professionals.
The Festival's organization would like to thank all the authors who have so enthusiastically accepted this challenge. Their early response has been extraordinary and with some two months remaining before the close of the submission window, has resulted in more than 2,000 short films sent from 90 different countries.
I've Seen Films launching pad will be the Internet contest, organized with Cortoweb’s technical expertize. Last year’s internet contest, with 132 online competing works, resulted in a staggering number of more than 250,000 views.
In addition to the competing short films, this year’s international competition will also include a special screening event offered by 20th Century Fox H.E., as well as a tribute to an internationally renowned scientist. A tribute to an important filmmaker is included in the program, too.
The ‘smart’ car, which ensures the maximum driving comfort, agility, safety and ecology is again the I’ve Seen Films Main Sponsor.
Coming Soon Television, Best Movie, MyMovies.it, RadioCinema, The Rutger Hauer Film Factory, EUNIC (European Union National Institutes for Culture), ISR (Swiss Culture Institute) and the Goethe Institute Mailand are some of the Festival’s partners.
I'VE SEEN FILMS was founded by Rutger Hauer (Blade Runner, The Hitcher, Ladyhawke, The Legend of the Holy Drinker, Sin City, Batman Begins, etc.), with the aim of promoting, in an independent way, on a world-wide basis and also through the internet streaming medium, the works of filmmakers desiring powerful exposure and visibility to their films.
During the 2008 edition almost all winning authors personally attended the Festival both during the entire 5-day screening program, as well as attending the Gala Award evening. The authors, who came from all four corners of the world: Australia, Denmark, Argentina, UK, Germany, Canada, Croatia, Portugal, etc., did not want to miss this important gathering with the international filmmaking world. Their works were screened, for the first time ever during any short film festival, in a masterfully high-definition digitalized version, which allowed for an extraordinarily quality. This format garnered enthusiastic praises from audience and film authors alike. This important technical aspect will also be one of the pluses for this year’s edition.
The I'VE SEEN FILMS 2009 main screening venue is the Gnomo Milano Cinema (a downtown theater recently renovated with Digital Cinema equipment), kindly set at the Festival’s disposal by the Milano Municipality. Some of the short films screenings will also take place in an additional location (to be announced), thus giving the competing filmmakers an even wider visibility opportunity.
I'VE SEEN FILMS is creating an innovative way of linking the new millennium medium to the firmly established cultural film festival tradition, with Rutger Hauer at the helm, personally awarding the Festival winners during an evening where the film authors will be the real protagonists.
