IN AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN MICROCINEMA AND ''I'VE SEEN FILMS'', THE FESTIVAL DEDICATED TO INDEPENDENT FILMMAKERS ARRIVES AT THEATERS VIA SATELLITE
The short films of the international film festival founded by Rutger Hauer will be screened in the Microcinema Digital Network of theaters.
Microcinema and Milano’s I’ve Seen Films International Film Festival proudly announce the endorsement of a partnership agreement for a cooperative project with the goal of promoting and distributing the works of filmmakers who seek powerful exposure and visibility for their films.
With this partnership, I’ve Seen Films International Film Festival and Microcinema are paving an innovative path in the film festival world, offering an increasingly expanding audience the possibility to enjoy, in digitalized theaters, the best original works of authors from more than 90 countries.
This cooperation also includes a digital screening, in the Microcinema Digital Network of theatres, of the short films chosen by the I’ve Seen Films Festival. This offers the artists a concrete diffusion opportunity for contents that, notwithstanding their quality and artistic value and due to the classic film reel costs, have always been prevented from obtaining their deserved visibility in a theatre venue.
Thanks to the agreement and partnership with ESA (and its ISIDE - Innovative Satellite Interactive Digital Entertainment - project), the 2009 I’ve Seen Films Festival’s Gala Award Evening has been broadcast live and in high definition in both Italian and European theatres. This represented a unique opportunity, to the public, to watch the Award Evening along with its prestigious guests.
Microcinema is the first Italian network, dedicated to the distribution of films and digital contents for theatres, that is capable of overcoming the ‘physical’ limitations of the film reel as far as acquisition, transferring, functioning and obsolescence are concerned. Furthermore, in its leading position in the Italian partnership with ESA (European Space Agency), it co-funds a R&D project relevant to satellite video-communications with live airings of cultural events and shows. Thanks to continual growth in the Italian territory, Microcinema offers the opportunity of enjoying live cultural events and shows to an ever-increasing potential audience of 25,000 people (+150% in the last year).
I’VE SEEN FILMS International Film Festival, based in Milan, was founded by Rutger Hauer with the aim of promoting and uniting filmmakers from all over the world, offering them new diffusion formulas linked to innovative visibility platforms, where authors can face each other on the common ground of the film language. Thanks to a keen attention paid to the most advanced digital technologies, the Festival has some unique components which make it stand out as an unparalleled cultural event. It is also one of the few film festivals in the world that has been founded and is directly managed by an international artist. For the first time ever, a short film competition can rely on an International Jury formed by numerous notable artistic talents and experts of the film sector such as Ridley Scott, Robert Rodriguez, Miranda Richardson, Richard Gere, Christopher Nolan, Paul Verheoven, Anton Corbijn, Roberto Faenza, Ludovico Einaudi, Eugenio Cappuccio, Lech Majewski, and film experts such as Bill Bristow, Daniela Catelli, Teresa Cavina and Roberto Nepoti. This clearly represents a turning point in this field. ____________________________
