I'VE SEEN FILMS 2009 - FULL HOUSE AND PRESTIGIOUS GUESTS AT THE AWARDS CEREMONY IN MILAN

I'VE SEEN FILMS, founded by international artist Rutger Hauer,

Under the Patronage of the Milano Municipality, the Milano Province, of EXPO 2015,
the Consulate General of the Netherlands, the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland, EUNIC, AGIS Lombarda and the Lombardia Film Commission

is proud to announce that the Festival ended yesterday, October 3, with a very successful response from the audience and the authors, who had their works screened in a masterful, HD Digital Cinema quality.

The Gala Award Evening was aired live by the Microcinema Digital Network via the European Space Agency’s satellite technology, with a potential audience of 30,000 viewers!

With a screening program of 231 works from 70 countries and special events that lasted 10 days taking place at Gnomo Milano Cinema, Centre Culturel Francais and Theca, the Gala Award Evening, hosted by producer, director and writer Bill Bristow, along with the skilled vocal Trio ‘The Blue Dolls’, has honored the winners of the second edition of ‘I’ve Seen Films’.

The International Jury, formed by Ridley Scott, Robert Rodriguez, Lech Majewski, Miranda Richardson, Paul Verhoeven, Eugenio Cappuccio, Anton Corbijn, Christopher Nolan, Bill Bristow Daniela Catelli, Teresa Cavina, Roberto Nepoti e Rutger Hauer assigned the following awards:

For the Best Short Film, 20th Century Fox H.E. Award and free admission to the Rutger Hauer FilmFactory Masterclass, Flax’, by Bard Ivar Engelsas (Norway)
For the Best Fiction, EUNIC Award, ‘El Pasajero’ by Andres Faucher (Venezuela)
For the Best First Work, Agis Lombarda Award, ‘François’ by Dario Gorini and Iacopo Zanon (Italy)
For the Best Animation, IFQ Magazine Award, ‘El Empleo’ by Santiago Bou Grasso (Argentina)
For the Best Videoclip, CNR Media Award, ‘Quio: Rising Tide’ by Christine Lang (Germany)
For the Best Social Awareness Film, Presidency of the Italian Republic Award and Rutger Hauer Starfish Association Plaque to ‘Alice’ by Stefano Anselmi (Italy)

The two ‘20th Century Fox H.E.’ Awards for the internet contest assigned by the Audience and by the Jury went to ‘La Preda’ by Francesco Apice (Italy) and ‘La Piecita’ by Carmen Colino (Argentina).

The 337 Internet works in competition have received more than 100,000 votes and over 1,500,000 views from all over the world.

A Special Career Award was assigned during the October 2nd event to the versatile Polish artist, Lech Majewski, whose moving ‘The Garden of Earthly Delights’ was screened on that day.

The Best smart Short Film Award assigned by ‘smart’, the Festival’s main sponsor, was won by Dorota Zglobicka (Polonia) for her ‘Be Smarter’, produced during the 2009 Rutger Hauer FilmFactory Masterclass in Rotterdam.

The awards were personally handed out to the authors by Rutger Hauer, who was on the stage along with host Bill Bristow, the Blue Dolls and the eclectic actress, Miranda Richardson, who travelled from London to attend this event. Attending the evening were also Lech Majewski, Daniela Catelli, and the Milano Municipality Culture Concillor Massimiliano Finazzer Flory.

The festival program included more than 100 European and Italian premieres relevant to the competing short films, as well as the European premiere of the heart-touching ‘The Rhapsody’ by Max Cusimano.

This second ‘I’ve Seen Films’ edition has once again set itself apart from other film festivals with the distinction of having provided the authors the opportunity to watch their works screened in a masterfully digitalized version. As such, they were able to see their films brought to life on the big screen in a fantastic, high-quality video definition which gathered enthusiastic praises from both the audience and filmmakers alike.

All of the Festival’s competing short films were outstanding due to their high artistic and quality level. This year’s competing author line-up included Oscar, BAFTA and Emmy award-winning filmmakers who came from all over the world to be in attendance.

All of the winning filmmakers, coming from Colombia, the USA, Venezuela, Argentina and various European countries, were able to attend the Awards Ceremony.

At the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Milano, ‘I’ve Seen Films’, in cooperation with the Masters in Film Planning and Communication and Analysis and Planning of the Television Product, had organized two masterclasses entitled ‘Festivals and the Short Film Promotion’ and ‘When Art and Poetry Meet Film’, whose speakers were Rutger Hauer, Lech Majewski, Bill Bristow, Silvana Molino, Cinzia Masotina, Andrea Bellavita, PierPaolo De Fina and Giancarlo Zappoli.

A special event organized in cooperation with 20th Century Fox H.E. included the screening of ‘Flesh and Blood’ by Paul Verhoeven, member of the 2009 ‘I’ve Seen Films’ Jury, and a Q&A session with the Festival Founder and President, Rutger Hauer as well as Co-Artistic directors PierPaolo De Fina and Giancarlo Zappoli.

The 2010 ‘I’ve Seen Films’ Call for Entry, will also include a category dedicated to feature films and will be launched very soon from the Festival’s official website.
